October 19th 2018: Organised by KAS REMENA and the European Academy Otzenhausen (EAO) the academy was aimed at students and young talents from the MENA region and Turkey. The event was designed to promote the exchange on topics of sustainability and resource security as well as to increase participants’ awareness in the fields of energy, water, mobility, digitalization and urban planning.
Selected participants included three Alumni from the MEDRC Fellowship Program and one Alumn from the MEDRC vocational training program ‘TAHLYA’. They were joined by twenty other young talents from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Turkey, Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon.
The academy consists of intensive training sessions delivered by renowned experts, designed to strengthen the development of political competences and strategies. The participants are then able to take this knowledge home with them and can thus contribute to making the topics of sustainability and resource security more prominent in their regions.
MEDRC Head of Research, Dr.Jauad El Kharraz, delivered two workshops; the first on water and wastewater management and the second on water-energy nexus with a focus on desalination and renewable desalination in the MENA region.
