Eligibility

  • Male & Female: Omani Nationals
  • Age 20-30 before December 31st, 2017
  • Graduate and post-graduate students
  • Letter of support from university or research institution (signed by Supervisor, Dean...)
  • The research presented for this award should be ORIGINAL, carried out by the candidate (for the specific purpose of entering this award) and should not have been presented or awarded elsewhere

      Selection Process

  • Candidates must apply through the application form on our website. This is the ONLY way applications will be accepted. Supporting materials (Research paper, CV, support letter) are required. They must be attached and uploaded as to the online application
  • Application is in English only
  • All application forms will be carefully checked by a panel of experts 
  • Committee Members will abstain from evaluating applications which belong to their department
  • If you have been shortlisted, you will be called to make an oral presentation of your work in September
  • You will then be informed by email and phone on the final result before the end of September
  • The award committee will judge each application as follows: 20 points for the quality of the research (including originality, the clarity of the objectives, the adequacy of the experimental design if any, the suitability of the methods and procedures, and the extent to which the conclusions are supported by the data); 10 points for the significance of the research with respect to water challenges in Oman10 points for presentation skills (including appearance and organization) for the shortlisted candidates; for a maximum possible total score of 40

The Supporting Material

  • A maximum limit of 10 pages for nomination narratives

Nomination narrative should include:

  • The research paper to be considered for the award (10 pages max)
  • Support letter delivered by a Professor/Supervisor/Dean or equivalent (one page max)
  • The nominee's professional curriculum vitae (maximum limit of 4 pages)
  • Note 1: We suggest using Times New Roman 12 point, 1.5 line spacing and margins equal to or greater than .75 inches on all sides in all above documents
  • Note 2: The selection Committee may require additional documents if necessary

      The Award

  • The winner will be presented with a winner’s medal, certificate of achievement, and a paid trip (flights and accommodation) to attend the 4th Amsterdam International Water Week held on 30th October – 3rd November 2017, in The Netherlands. This international gathering offers an inspiring programme of events including the AIWW conference, exhibitions, awards and much more (www.internationalwaterweek.com)
